Course Overview

Design, layout, and Art Direction in the age of generative intelligence. We are going beyond the pixel and we are Art Directing the next reality.

This intensive course is for forward-thinking designers, aspiring Art Directors, and Creative Technologists ready to lead the conversation. We take the fundamentals like layout, typography, color, composition and visual hierarchy and then rebuild them using the most advanced and emerging creative tools on the planet.

You won't just learn how to integrate Generative AI into your workflow, you'll learn how to Art Direct it. We’ll cover everything from the fundamentals of design over a lot of the creative tools software and it's usage in combination with modern AI Tools like Adobe Firefly, Goggle Gemini and others.

You will become the hybrid next level creative that works like an alchemist combining the existing design world with the future and create things beyond imagination.

  • Fundamentals and details of Design, Layout, Typography, Images and Editing
  • Technical fundamentals of creative software and tools • Professionell software skills in Adobe Software, Figma and AI Tools
  • Setting up and using ef ficient workflows in modern creative technology
  • Professionell image creation and processing / creative work with images
  • Advanced creative work in the field of Art Direction
  • Integrating and evaluating generative AI in design workflows

Assessment Criteria

  • Weekly Assignments (60%): creating real world portfolio ready projects
  • Final Presentation (40%): creating and presenting a full-scale ad campaign

This course will refresh your existing skills or prepare you for key roles, including Designer, Art Director, Creative Technologist, and Product Owner. You'll develop the vision necessary to lead and move beyond designing to direct creative initiatives.

Ilko Höpping

Freelance Designer | Art Director | Tech. Expert | Teacher

For over 20 years, Ilko has been a creative force and a dedicated teacher. His extensive career as a freelance designer and art director has given him a broad skill set, from traditional visual communication to modern UX/UI design.

Known for being an early adopter of new creative tech tools, Ilko is a tireless innovator who is just as passionate about his own work as he is about mentoring and developing young creative talent.
