Course Overview

Creative awards are a cornerstone of the creative’s journey through their advertising career. Industry recognition is not only a competitive advantage for your CV or a way to demonstrate your craft, but it can be a real confidence builder in an industry that can feel fraught with uncertainty and subjectivity.

Whether you are motivated by award shows or not, ‘award-level’ work is a benchmark we should all aspire to. This is why the Awards Excellence course takes a more strategic look at the disciplined approach needed; from brief through to developing your case films - excellence truly is in the detail.

This highly dynamic and interactive course teaches you practical skills that you can put into practice from your very first lesson. You will learn by ‘doing’, and as many other students have found, if you trust the process you will truly transform the way you see creative advertising.

Giulia and Kam, both highly recognised creative and strategic leaders in their field, offer over 30 combined years of their experience and mentorship in this popular class.

Learning Outcomes

Assessment Criteria

● 50%: Weekly exercises, collaboration, and in-lesson behaviour
● 50%: Final F2F project and final presentation

Meet the Instructor

Giulia Magaldi

Before becoming an advertising creative, Giulia was a community manager in Italy.
Today she works as freelance Creative Director.

Her work has been awarded at numerous international shows including Cannes Lions, Webbys Awards, Clio Awards, The One Show, New York Festivals, ADDY's, Young Guns, Wave Festival, Applied Arts, Young Glory, among other award shows .

Other highlights in her career include being named in Business Insider's 30 under 30's most creative people in Advertising and judging student award shows, such as The Art Director Club and The University of Miami ADDY'S.​

When not doing ads Giulia dances swing.
